Alan J. SzydlowskiAlan J. Szydlowski joined Cohen Milstein in 2007 as the Director of Securities Research & Analysis. Alan works with the Securities Practice Group and is located in our New York office. Prior to joining Cohen Milstein, Alan worked at Labaton Sucharow firm since 2003, where he was a member of the firm's case development team responsible for highlighting and analyzing potential new securities cases. In addition, he assisted pension fund clients in corporate governance related matters. Prior to 2003, he was a Senior Research Analyst and Assistant Division Manager at U.S. Trust Company of New York, a wealth management institution. There, he oversaw approximately $1 billion in investments in his coverage universe of newspaper, business services, for-profit education companies and restaurants. For his outstanding coverage, which included both U.S. and foreign domiciled companies, Mr. Szydlowski was nominated by his sell-side peers for Institutional Investors’s “Best of the Buy-side” review in 2000, 2001 and 2002, which highlights top buy-side analysts. In addition, Mr. Szydlowski’s investment commentary has been featured in the Wall Street Transcript, Institutional Investor, Business Week, Bloomberg News and the Educational Marketer. Mr. Szydlowski was a member of U.S. Trust’s proxy committee and was responsible for revising and implementing the Firm’s policies on voting proxies. He was responsible for analyzing special governance situations and recommending voting policies for the firm. As the Assistant Division Manager, he was responsible for directly supervising two departments within the research division and for the Firm’s in-house analyst training program. Mr. Szydlowski received his B.B.A., in finance, magna cum laude, from Baruch College/City University of New York in 1992 and was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and Golden Key national honor societies. He received his M.B.A. in finance from Baruch in 1996.
