Ingrid Gubbay

Ingrid Gubbay is a Consultant with Cohen Milstein in its London-based European office. She practices Antitrust, Consumer and Human Rights law.

Prior to joining Cohen Milstein, Ms. Gubbay was the Principal Campaigns Lawyer for the largest consumer association in Europe, Which? Last year in the case of JJB Sports v Consumer Association, Ms. Gubbay bought the UK’s first antitrust representative action for damages on behalf of consumers (indirect purchasers) under new statutory powers granted to Which? by the Secretary of State. She has an extensive background both in practice in Australia, where she was head of consumer litigation for the Legal Aid Commission (NSW) and the UK, of bringing test cases involving collective actions.

Ms. Gubbay has written and presented on private enforcement for damages in antitrust law, and lectured at the Universities of NSW and Essex UK in tort, administrative and international human rights law.

She is a member of the British Institute of Advanced Comparative law (BIICL) and sits on the comparative law working party of the UK Civil Justice Council responsible for advising government on civil procedural reform in the UK.

She is a graduate of the University of NSW where she gained a B.A. and LLB in 1994. She is admitted to the rolls of the Federal and High Courts of Australia, and currently undertaking a PHD (research ) at Queen Mary University London.
