COHEN MILSTEIN HAUSFELD & TOLL ANNOUNCES NEW PARTNERS AND ADDITIONAL OFFICES

Plaintiffs class action and complex litigation law firm, Cohen Milstein Hausfeld & Toll, P.L.L.C., announces the hiring of new partners and the opening of three new office locations.  The 38 year-old firm, based in Washington, D.C., opened the first law office in London working with claimants in the UK and the EU in June.  That office is initially focusing on antitrust and competition matters.  In the US, the firm opened a new office in San Francisco (One Embarcadero Center), added members to the New York office, and a new location in Chicago (190 So. LaSalle Street).

New partner Carol V. Gilden is head of the Chicago office of Cohen Milstein.   Gilden brings to the firm 24 years of experience in securities fraud litigation, five of which were spent as an enforcement attorney in the Midwest Regional Office of the Securities and Exchange Commission.   In addition to her extensive experience in securities fraud class and derivative actions, Gilden’s practice has also includes ERISA, antitrust and consumer class actions and qui tam procedures.  Currently she serves as President of the National Association of Shareholder and Consumer Attorneys (NASCAT), the preeminent trade association for securities class action attorneys.

Robert G. Eisler has been tapped to manage the New York City office, concentrating his efforts in the antitrust practice area.  He brings to the firm extensive experience in complex litigation at the trial and appellate levels, particularly in the prosecution of antitrust class actions.  During his tenure with Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, prior to joining Cohen Milstein, Eisler served as lead or co lead counsel in many cases in the state and federal courts.  He is currently involved in the prosecution of numerous major antitrust actions throughout the United States.

Also in the NYC office is new partner Lynda J. Grant, who will continue her practice of prosecuting class and derivative actions on behalf of investors.  During her 20-year tenure at Labaton Sucharow, from which Grant joins Cohen Milstein, she was responsible for litigating certain of the firm’s major actions. She has been recognized as one of the top attorneys in the corporate governance area.  Recently, Grant was elected as a co-chairperson of the Class and Derivative Actions Committee of the Securities Litigation Committee of the American Bar Association. 

Michael P. Lehmann joins Cohen Milstein as a partner and heads the new San Francisco office.  Lehmann brings to the firm 29 years of experience as a business litigator, with a practice that ranged from class action litigation to business litigation on behalf of individual clients, to extensive regulatory work before federal, state and international bodies, and to domestic and international arbitration. Prior to joining Cohen Milstein, Lehmann worked at what became Furth Lehmann LLP, where he most recently served as Managing Partner. In recent years, he has served as lead counsel for direct or indirect purchaser classes in numerous antitrust cases.

In Cohen Milstein’s London office Rob Murray is managing partner. Until recently, Murray was a Reporting Panel Member of the UK Competition Commission. He previously led the competition practices of major firms and has almost two decades of experience in private practice in the UK and Brussels in European competition law.

Also in London is Vincent Smith a competition partner. He joined Cohen Milstein after five years at the UK Office of Fair Trading. As senior director for competition, he led the 180-strong Competition Enforcement division. Before that, Smith was the senior competition lawyer at the UK telecommunications regulator, having previously been in private practice for more than ten years with a leading city law firm in London and Brussels.

Anthony Maton is a litigation partner for the London office with extensive experience in international commercial litigation. He joined Cohen Milstein after six years as a partner at McGrigors and seven years as an assistant at Slaughter and May. Maton is Secretary of the London Solicitors' Litigation Association.
